Bitter Chocolatier or Angry Ex Chocolate Packaging
This is the most amazing packaging I have ever seen.
Really.
No, seriously.
The Dieline sums it up "Poking fun at himself, The Bitter Chocolatier tells his tales of misfortune throughout his life through the different flavours"
Get it? Cause he's BITTER! and needs Chocolate to get through it! (that last bit might be my interpretation).
Too bad this is student work, cause I would like one of each.... maybe personalized....

Casualties of War ("Real Life" little Green Army Toys)
Remember these?
How about the real deal:
Made by the people of Dorothy, the "Casualties of War" plastic figurines were intended to publicize the "personal hell soldiers live through after returning home".
Perhaps a Homies mash-up is in their future?

Horoscopes a.k.a. Fine, I Guess They Really Are Crap...INFOGRAPHIC
Using Javascipt and Wordle, Information Beautiful calculated that "horoscopes really all just say the same thing"... Each section is filled with a Tag Cloud of the most common words used in 22,000 horoscopes, then charted for the gist of each sign!
As a Sagittarius, my Unique Word Analysis is: They Sound Like Fun! (my unique words are: thanks, sign, sense, play, meet). My opinion? FAIRLY ACCURATE. Suck it Cancers (Word Analysis: House Cats).
They also calculated the META-PREDICTION for ALL SIGNS!
Still believe in Astrology tho...I have no apologies.

Today is Jules Verne's 183rd birthday. Live his dream by diving to the deepest bowels of the ocean using the joystick on the right.
Hopefully I'll be learning some of this in my HTML5/CSS3 Class this semester!Sometimes it's the little things in life.

Beef and Pie Productions: Drs. Woolf & Woolf Animated Eyechart!
Really wonderful graphics from Beef and Pie's latest and greatest commercial for Drs. Woolf & Woolf Optometrists! Makes me think of vintage diners and great eyecare ;)
Here's what Beef & Pie has to say:
So Beefy’s Dad is an optometrist. His grandmother and grandfather were optometrists. Beefy’s brother is an optometrist. Beefy was supposed to be an optometrist. Now he just makes ads for optometrists.
Animating an eye chart was an ad idea kicking around in his head for years. But it was Christian Helms’ design and Brandon Thomas’ animation that made that glimmer in his eye a reality.
It's always impressive to see what they're up to down in Austin.
Def check out the whole animated enchilada on Beef & Pie's Site Here
And you may recognize the T-Shirt winner of 2007....

Hey...Where's Everybody Going? Statistics!
Ever get that feeling that all your friends are moving back into town? If you live in Dallas, chances are, they are! Well, at least according to the awesome interactive map over at Forbes! They studied fancy IRS stats and translated them into American migration trends!
Forbes says:
Forbes says:
More than 10 million Americans moved from one county to another during 2008. The map below visualizes those moves. Click on any county to see comings and goings: black lines indicate net inward movement, red lines net outward movement.
My hypothesis: LA sucks donkey and Seattle is the new mecca!

Blind Bike Stunt Rider: AKA Matt Gilman from Pikesville High School
I know ya'll know those guys in High School, the ones that are constantly trying to outdo each other with crazy antics: jumping over things, unlimited energy, acting all wild...the ones that had serious ADD before ADD was a household name!?
Well, what if I told you that crazy guy you knew, who used to get into serious trouble just for having fun, had gotten Type 1 Diabetes, and is now Legally Blind...
And now, what if I told you 10 yrs later, he's a famous Blind Stunt Rider? Would you believe me?!!!!
Well, let me introduce you to Matt Gilman...Blind Bike Stunt Rider! I'm so gawddamn proud of him. He was just at the Patterson Park BikeJam this weekend. And while he can only see 1 foot in front of him (that means he can't see the end of a jump till he's there)...that didn't stop him from performing to over 800 fans!

Girl on the Wall: A Biography in Embroidered 73 interlocking circles!
Truly inspirational story about Jean Baggott, who thought her life was kinda ordinary, until she began her 70 yr life history in embroidery!
Dets about the embroidery itself:
Took sixteen months to sew and contains 36,992 stitches, sewn on 32-count evenweave linen. It was designed to fit over a table in Jean’s living room and measures 112 x 41cm.
The tapestry tells the moving story of an ordinary young girl from the Black Country, growing up in extraordinary times.
I'm glad I finally decided to watch this video.
Check out the whole tapestry in high res.

Drugs are good for Art:
Thru an LSD induced trip (sponsored by the US government in the late 1950's) our victim patient was asked to make 9 drawings throughout the experiment.
He was given free reign over a box of crayons and paper.
Highlights include observations such as:
Upon completing the drawing the patient starts laughing, then becomes startled by something on the floor.
and
Patient makes the last half-a-dozen strokes of the drawing while running back and forth across the room.
Ahhh... good times.

Is Your Glucose Spiking? Did Your Contacts Change Color?!

This. Is. Amazing.
If you're not diabetic, you may not understand the AWESOMENESS of this:So Diabetic means: you can't produce insulin to break down sugars. So diabetics are constantly checking their blood-sugar levels for dangerous glucose spikes.
Meaning they actually have to test the blood. Meaning actual Stabby Stabby! (see pic below). (also see: NO FUN)

They found a way to change the color you see thru contacts with the changing of your glucose levels!
Seeing red? You need cookies!
The secret: Ultra-teeny nanoparticles that react chemically with glucose molecules in tears to produce a shift in hue.Blood drawing and pin-pricking might be a thing of the past!
God I love technology.
