The Typeface LOVE Connection!

Please, fonts have feelings too you know! They also have personalities.
(Except for Comic Sans and Papyrus - they are each dumb as bricks).

So what happens when a font gets lonely?

Enter the Type Connection! As her final thesis for a M.F.A. from MICA, Aura Seltzer designed an online dating game for typefaces!

From her site:
Type Connection is an online game that helps users learn how to pair typefaces. Like a conventional dating website, Type Connection presents potential “dates” for well-known, workhorse typefaces. Users are matchmakers. They decide what kind of match to look for by choosing among several strategies for combining typefaces.
Brilliant! The accompanying exhibit is now closed, but the website is still up.
Help out some wanting typefaces!

And here's the story behind the project at Felt & Wire!

Get on da bus! The Go-Go thrifty shop bus!

Completely caught off guard to get my picture taken... but Stacy is a natural!
This image from Baltimore Sun
My early Saturday mornings usually consist of not washing my hair, putting on some schlubby clothes and dashing my Etsy goods to the post office unseen by the public. So when, bleary-eyed, Andy and I stumbled down the avenue,  it took a few minutes to register what I was looking at.

This was no fuzzy nightmare of middle school...this was a fantastic school bus filled with thrifty goodies! Swoon!

Now I'm a pretty bouncy person, but the owner, Stacy, completely eclipsed me. Maybe it was because she just quit her day job? (YAY!) or because she had the most adorable puppy-in-a-basket to keep her company!? Either way, I had a great time browsing through the awesomeness. Even Andy enjoyed his time by petting the pooch and adding dry erase graffiti on the ceiling!

Check out the Go-go's Retread Threads bus stop schedule here!

Some other linkies:
Go-go's bus at Honfest! And at Hampdenfest! (How did I miss this!??? Oh wait... I was probably highly intoxicated. Nothing says "Yay Neighborhood" than drinking in public!)

Did I mention I love how random Hampden always seems to be?

It's Inconceivable!

Damn you Drafthouse! You're so awesome but so far away!

For Valentines, the Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a "Quote-Along & Feast" of the Princess Bride! (A movie, I can assure you, I can quote by heart). Best part? These clever bastards will have "Princess Bride Battle of Wits Bottle of Wine!"

I hope it comes with blindfolds and two glasses... because both glasses will be poisoned, since I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.

DiG: Your mission is to GET ME SOME DARNIT.

Boffo + Irene Neuwirth + Theverymany = Gilded Popup Store!

Photos from October's temporary shop for jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth! I wish I would have seen it, but I'm sure if I was there, I would either
a) trip on something and crash everything down
b) stare so hard in amazement that I would burn holes in things with my eyes
c) or be so fascinated, the drool from my open mouth would short-circuit something.

Basically, it's a good thing I wasn't there... but I'm sure these photos aren't doing it justice!!

Snookums Cat Food Tells it Like it IS!

Your cats are secretly trying to kill you.
No it's true!
1. They weave in between your legs at the top of the stairs.
2. They sit on your chest and "purr" like they're not trying to suffocate you.
3. They "play fight" by scratching the heck out of your hands - (and spread bartonella bacteria!)

Cats are evil. Which is why this is the best packaging I have ever seen. There's no "Oh fluffy LOVES you when you give him ______
Snookums is straight up cat food telling you LIKE IT IS.
Your cat will kill you, so you'd better appease them with Snookums.

Product Testing Institute...

Three senior gentlemen are asked to take a photo with three different smartphones.

Or Glam Rock Stars?

Oh, and how about some surfers?

Yes, I know this is totally promoting propaganda for the phone... and I'm a sucker/cog in the marketing machine, but these are pretty funny!

Original Moonshine, huh...

Yeah, not sure I like the "original" claim or that it won't make you go blind.

Nice packaging tho...so I guess I'll post...but, I wonder what the Deliverance locals will think of this. Do they even have internet?

Fro-Tastic Cookie Packaging!

That is some ANGRY packaging!
Hilarious, but the cookie looks like it tastes like pomade and has the density of a hockey puck.
Mmm...delicious.

Solar Powered Lounge Chair for the Outdoors!

THIS IS OUR FUTURE!

From If It's Hip, It's Here (obvs):
Professor of the Practice of Architecture, Sheila Kennedy, and a group of Design, Architecture and Engineering students from MIT have designed solar-energy storing modern wood rockers on which you can lounge and chat or charge. Smartphones, cell phones, mp3 devices, laptops and other gadgets can be connected via USB. What's more, the soft rockers are designed with a solar powered ambient light that gives them a soft glow in the dark.

P.S. Hmm... I'm not sure if I could fit more adjectives into the title (<---sarcasm). SO here are some more that I can come up with! Super-power, electrical, eco-savvy, brilliant, useable, genius, pretty, need-able... that's all I can come up with. You guys have any others?

P.S.S. I love MIT <-link to an awesome project my buddy Don helped develop.

3-D Projection Mapping for Hyundai Accent a.k.a. HOLY MOLEY

Been seeing a lot of the 3-D projection Mapping ads lately.. but this one. I mean seriously... THIS ONE IS AMAZING. via

(3-d Projection mapping is when they "superimpose" images over buildings/walls/whatever.)

Here's another freakin awesome one for Hot Wheels! It's amazing how they can do this stuff now. This one especially takes advantage of the building it's set on.

If you want more... he's a posting with the "Top Ten"!

Richard Simmons makes Flight Safety FUN!

If I knew those horrid safety videos could be so fun, I might actually enjoy watching them! (instead of pretending to sleep like I usually do).

Kudos to Air New Zealand for a fantastic revamp of a craptacular "forced to watch" video!
- Next time I fly Air New Zealand, I'm wearing my workout headband & wristbands!

Typography of the World! (Or rather... US and European Fonts...)

Infographic Joy!
Where were these fonts designed? Europe or US?
(Or horribly horribly western-centric elitism...).  link
For this, I give you new label "infographic!"

Google Jules Verne!

Today's Google Homepage!

Using CSS3, Google shows us what you'll find... 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!
Today is Jules Verne's 183rd birthday. Live his dream by diving to the deepest bowels of the ocean using the joystick on the right.
Hopefully I'll be learning some of this in my HTML5/CSS3 Class this semester!

Sometimes it's the little things in life.
