Oh Japan, WTF?...the Blog

Some Japanese Gems:
The Lap Pillow! A lap minus the annoying yapping that comes with the rest of the body.
Less talky-talky, more sleepy-creepy.

How wrong is this? Let me count the ways....

Even in ancient times, mannequins were known to be molested by stuffed spiders.

I'm planning on spending the rest of my Eastern Standard Time on WTF Japan Seriously, my new favorite site! I've died and gone to Asian Heaven, and it's filled with Ganguro girls!
Thanks Brian!

Street Angel: The Film!

Oh oh oh! I'm so excited!

The comic is so cheeky! If you ever get a chance to read this saucy comic by Jim Rugg you'll find it's filled with:
ninjas who are apparently a local minority group; mad scientists; renegade robots; time-traveling Spanish conquistadors led by Cortez himself; drug dealers; an Irish spaceman named CosMick; demons; a two-fisted Jesus Christ; a well-tailored Incan sun god; and a former super-bad dude from the 1970s known as the Afrodisiac.

The only person who can deal with the freewheeling chaos is Jesse Sanchez, a homeless 12-year-old martial arts/skateboard prodigy known and feared as Street Angel.
For a taste of the comic go here and here. And for the movie here! via

Im a Ninja what are you?

Apparently a lucky few Gmail users had a “Themes” tab pop up under settings. No longer do you have to suffer through the boring-if-functional standard Gmail interface for the 16 hours a day that you keep the page loaded. Try “Ninja” instead. I am one of the lucky few who got to Beta this, I loves it!!! Here are my two favorite, I am rocking Ninja for now but my other choice from this morning was the nice autumn colors! NEATO!!!

(and don't forget! We've got two giveaways here and here going on RIGHT now!)

Spielburg to Direct Oldboy Remake?

Are they f'in serious!???

This is wrong... so wrong!

Why?
1. This was the best foreign movie I have seen in a long time. Directed by the VERY talented Chan-wook Park. (from the stylish Lady Vengeance fame). You can't remake brilliance.

2. Did Spielburg ever READ the manga? It's a vengeance trilogy.
As in 3. As in this is #2. (#1 was Sympathy for Mr. Vengence and #3 is Lady Vengence).

3. Not to give too much away from the story
... but it has a pretty g-damn f'ed up ending.
How the heck are they going to "Spielburg-ise" it?

4. Doesn't he have his own stuff to do?
Why is everyone remaking Asian cinema?!?

5. Will Smith? Really?

Sigh. Did I mention I hate Mondays?

Batman Competes for the fate of the World! MORTAL KOMBAT

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly... but apparently MK8 will feature none other than the Dark Knight himself!

Midway Gamer's Day has presented Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe, a game which will see the clash between MK kombatants and DC superheroes. The guys @ MK Online have received the first image of the game, a render showing Sub-Zero and Batman.

Check out the gaming trailer @ Games Radar, via

I wonder if Superman will get in on the action, or is that too much of an easy win?

It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's a new MET exhibit!

MET's,"Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" exhibition aims to explore the associations between fashion and the superhero. Set to begin May 7th, it will feature superpowered movies, costumes, avant-garde haute couture, and high performance sportswear. via

I'd wear the second one to work.
Update! It is Indeed at Met, no MOMA as I previously posted. My bad!

Hiiiiiya! Smashing FIgurines

I have always wanted to break those little porcelien figurines.
They just beg..." throw me!" "Smash!" "I make great CurCKUNK sounds"
I wanna pounce on them like a hyena.. but I refrain. Polite society tells me no...

But not so for Martin Klimas! Ooooo noooo.... He breaks shit!

German photographer Martin Klimas has a great technique for high impact shots. He releases ceramic figurines from a certain height in the dark. When they hit the ground, the sound causes the lights to suddenly go on and the moment is captured. Klimas goes through a lot of figurines for the cause and of course each explosive moment is different. Klimas’ photography begs the question: is it still life or action? Apart from the technical attraction of this series, there is also the matter of brazenly doing something we have always tried to avoid to doing.

Female Ninjas are Real! And robbing gas stations!

Pennsylvania police are on the lookout for two unusual robbery suspects. The two sword-wielding female robbers stuck up a Richland gas station over the weekend while dressed as ninjas.Security cameras were rolling as they taped up the store clerk and loaded bags with cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.Police say they were surprised by the tape."Being, possibly, females and also being armed with swords, we very seldom see that sort of weapon used in robberies," said Chief Robert Amann. The gas station clerk was shaken up by the incident, but was not injured.
