But I thought I would share some fun linkage for awesome color inspiration at ColourLovers! Users create color palates and share with the group their creations. Sure, it sounds like another Social Media experiment gone awry, but it has a great section of Website Color Trends!

And there goes another 4 hours of my life gone!

Poop Coffee at Zeke's this Weekend!

By now you've probably heard of Kopie Luwak-civet coffee... the MOST EXPENSIVE COFFEE IN THE WOLRD! No? You mean you haven't heard of the Monkey poop it comes from?

I kid you not.

Let me tell you a little story of the Asian Palm Civet (the monkey culprit above). This scavenger scours the jungle eating the sweet red coffee beans he finds....then, yep! Poops out the undigested coffee beans! Then some entrepreneurial genius gathers the poop, cleans it (tho never enough for my tastes), grinds the digested coffee beans and charges outrageous amounts for it! Joy!

Boing Boing describes it best:

humans discovered that the enzymes in the civets’ tummies break down the coffee’s bitterness, leaving behind an extremely delicious pooped bean.

I tell you all this because Zeke's, the best coffee in the known universe, is having a Tasting Event for Kopi Luwak this weekend!

I may need someone to come with to hold my hand...

Alamo Drafthouse is planning on opening a location in DC!

Huzzah!

We love them because:

a) They have silly clips before movies, like this one with Monkeys!

b) They sometimes do a Rolling Roadshow, like the Dusk till Dawn Bad Taste John Water's Marathon in Bmore!

c) They LOVE stupid people!

A bit about them from their site:

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas provides a unique combination of theatre and restaurant, showing first-run & independent films and special programming events with an extensive menu made from scratch in a state-of-the-art culinary kitchen. Customers order all food and drinks from servers who quietly attend to them throughout the movie. This is what I found for you. There are Goths, there is a tree, there’s an old guy dressed as what I assume is supposed to be Santa. We’re all seated/sitting around a giant chair which makes Santa look like a tiny elf man. My favourite Goth is the one with the hair in plaits. (Edit: there seems to be some confusion as to which one with the hair in plaits I like, it’s the one sitting on the couch, fool.) Very cute. I want to give them a Christmas hug and offer them a clove cigarette if they’d GET THE FUCK OFF THEIR BUMS AND JUMP UP THAT MOTHER FUCKING CHRISTMAS TREE. Please.

It's true! Jews love food! (Well, who doesn't?).

So, in honor of the Pilgrims chowing down, we thought we would share our traditions as well. In fact, there's a whole exhibit of Jewish food at the Jewish Museum of Maryland... with a few familiar faces!

A few months ago, there was a call to the community for photos and memories of your food "recollections". Good thing our family has it's own paparazzi in my Uncle Howard! With his trusty archive of 100 years worth of photos, he practically filled the whole exhibit with our family photos (eating of course)!

Chosen Food: Cuisine, Culture and American Jewish Identity examines the diversity of Jewish eating and uncovers the messages in our meals. It shows how the foods we choose to eat speak volumes about who we are.

With the New Zealand oil spill (is there like one every month???), these adorable little cuties need your help!

According to Snopes: Often the little penguins are far too ill to be bathed right away, and scrubbing can be quite stressful. Airing online only (no surprise there), a couple shorts from the series are now uploaded HERE.
Usually it aired at the crack of dawn in the 90's, it was always a WHOOPEE! moment when I stumbled on it. (they moved the times around a lot, so you never really knew when it aired...).

In our immediate family we're lucky to have amazing dressers to emulate. Jealously of outfits runs rampant. Unfortunately they're all smaller than a size 4 compared to my "behemoth" larger sizing - so hand me downs are out of the question.

Artist Statement From Under Consideration:

Last fall, I began working on a satirical exhibit called A Bunch of Crock. It was a response to the current public discourse and the political landscape in the US. Being a Pakistani immigrant living in Arizona, the last election cycle and the general anti-immigrant rhetoric prevalent at that time was particularly alarming. Going through various campaign ads, I almost felt like the jokes were already written and all I had to do was find a nice bow to put on them.

Score! Remember that boarded up corner of Charles and Maryland? Near the Depot and Charles Theater? You know, the one for years looked like a bomb shelter or foggy real-estate deal gone sour? (See original Google Street View below).

Well, according to Facebook and Shine Collective, the Lost City Diner has finally strut it's stuff!

Shine goes on to suggest "they were waiting so long because every piece in the restaurant had to be authentic to the 30′s Sci-Fi theme". I don't know if I believe it, but this Culture Vulture is gonna go check it out! B-more needs more places like this!

Armed with cameras and overnight gear, a very adventurous group decided to infiltrate the U.S. Naval Fleet's reserve ships. These ships, floating in Suisun Bay, were "retired" for decades and have been sitting unused! (Some even served in WW II!).

Here are some fancy photos of their excursion around the ships, into the captains quarters and even what looks like a dentist's office! Inside the Ghost Ships of the Mothball Fleet

According to the Hollywood Reporter (via), Tom Hank's is in talks to produce a 6 Season Series of American Gods for HBO! Wooooo! Wikipedia describes American Gods as "a blend ofAmericana, fantasy, and various strands of ancient and modern mythology, all centring on a mysterious and taciturn protagonist, Shadow." Do gods exist if no one believes in them? What if the forgotten Gods have to get jobs like the rest of us?

Who knows if it'll actually go into production, but if Game of Thrones can do it, so can American Gods!
